One of the most acclaimed titles in Sundance Film Festival this year was Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019). The chronicle of the crimes of Ted Bundy, from the perspective of his longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, who refused to believe the truth about him for years, achieved most of the positive reviews of the festival and surprised and satisfied the audience in equal ways. Directed by Joe Berlinger, with a wide experience in documentaries, in special real crime events, and TV Series, and written by the debutant in a feature film Michael Werwie, the title of the movie was taken from a quote from the court judge on Bundy‘s trial. He quoted, “the crimes were extremely wicked, shockingly evil, vile, and the product of design to inflict a high degree of pain”.
Zac Efron, who stars as Ted Bundy, has gotten most of the positive remarks in the movie. A surprising twist on the career of the former High School Musical star, which is building a solid reputation as a versatile actor not only for his dancing and comedy skills. With him, Lily Collins, Angela Sarafyan, Grace Victoria Cox, and Metallica’s lead singer James Hetfield complete the main cast.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019) is not scheduled yet for a theatrical release but due to its impact in the popular American festival, it is fair to think it will hit theaters internationally anytime in 2019. You can watch its first official trailer here:
