Cloning and bringing back dead people to life are some of the most recurrent subjects in science-fiction movies. Since the early times with Frankenstein (1931), the concept has been present; it’s just the technology has advanced. And in Replicas (2018), Keanu Reeves writes a new chapter in scientists who become obsessed with bringing back his beloved ones.
In the movie, a daring synthetic biologist will stop at nothing to bring back his family after a car accident kills. He uses all his available resources, like his government-controlled laboratory and his team, putting against himself a police task force and the physical laws of science. Keanu Reeves stars the movie, and Alice Eve, Emily Alyn Lind, Thomas Middleditch, John Ortiz, Emjay Anthony, Nyasha Hatendi, Aria Lyric Leabu, Amber Townsend and Amber Rivera complete the main cast.
Replicas (2018) is based on a story by Stephen Hamel, partner of Keany Reeves in the production banner Company Films and also responsible for the idea of another title with the star performing the main character, Siberia (2018). Chad St. John, writer of London Has Fallen (2016) and the superb short film The Punisher: Dirty Laundry (2012), wrote the screenplay. Jeffrey Nachmanoff, director of the action thriller Traitor (2008) and also responsible for several episodes in a good handful of TV shows, has been the director Replicas (2018).
The Toronto International Film Festival saw this year the world premiere for Replicas (2018). In the upcoming months, it is scheduled to open in theaters in different territories. So while you wait for the film to hit your town, you can check out the trailer here:
