What if the COVID-19 pandemic we have been suffering for already 2 years was way more deadly than it actually was when we first took over our lives? What if the death rate for the new virus wasn’t 1%, but somewhere around 98%? After we have been going on, changing our habits, behavings, and fears perhaps permanently because of a stronger version of a not-so-lethal virus that took the world by surprise, this fictitious scenario surely gives us the chills.
That is the premise of the dark science-fiction and thriller After the Pandemic (2022). The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a global airborne pandemic has wiped out 90% of the Earth’s population and only the young and immune have endured as scavengers. For Ellie and Quinn, the daily challenges to stay alive are compounded when they become hunted by the merciless stalkers. Their perilous journey culminates with a sacrifice, death, and redemption.
This is the new movie of writer and director Richard Lowry, the man behind other horror and science-fiction titles like Jessica: A Ghost Story (1992), Destination Mars (2006), Rapture (2014), Dominion (2015), Apocalypse Rising (2018), President Evil (2018), Alien Overlords (2018), and Savage Creatures (2020) among others.
Eve James, Kannon Smith, Juniper Preacher, Derek Sneddon, Alec McCormick, Gu Sewen, Virginia Fivas, and Leslie Ldmaw form the main cast of the film.
After the Pandemic (2022) is scheduled for a digital and DVD release on the 1st of March, 2022, by Uncork’d Entertainment. Watch here its official trailer.
