What if you wake up locked up in a prison cell, with no recognition of how you made it there and no trial? Some sort of an escape room but this time you are not with your friends that will fall one by one, this time you are all alone.
In the survival horror thriller Death Count (2022), a group of strangers awakens in individual holding cells with no memory of how they arrived. They realize if they don’t acquire enough online “likes” in a timely manner, they’ll die horribly at the hands of a sinister executioner.
This is the new movie from filmmaker Michael Su, who has a prolific career on his back being responsible for the horror titles My Demon Within (2005), Doomed (2007), and Bridge of the Doomed (2022), and also responsible for the upcoming Night of the Tommyknockers (2022). Rolfe Kanefsky, who was the winner of several independent awards for his screenplay for Automation (2019), has written the screenplay for Death Count (2022) together with Michael Merino.
The main attraction of the movie is the presence of Michael Madsen in the role of Detective Casey. Costas Mandylor, Robert LaSardo, Sarah French, BJ Mezek, Devanny Pinn, Wesley Cannon, Denny Nolan, Dave Shecter, and Kimberly Lynn Cole complete the main cast.
