Originally set to be released on July 24 this summer, Come Play (2020) had to be rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic that is driving the world crazy. But, finally, today is the day the movie will hit theaters, at least in the USA.
This supernatural horror-thriller follows Oliver, a lonely young boy who feels different from everyone else. Desperate for a friend, he seeks solace and refuge in his ever-present cell phone and tablet. When a mysterious creature uses Oliver’s devices against him to break into our world, Oliver’s parents must fight to save their son from the monster beyond the screen. A monster named Larry manifests itself through smartphones and mobile devices.
Come Play (2020) is written and directed by the debutant Jacob Chase, and it’s based on his previous work, the short film Larry (2017). Azhy Robertson, Gillian Jacobs, John Gallagher Jr., Winslow Fegley, Jayden Marine, Gavin MacIver-Wright, Rachel Wilson, and Alana-Ashley Marques form the main cast.
The movie is Rated PG-13 for terror, frightening images, and some language. Focus Features, in charge of the theatrical distribution of the film in the USA, has released now a final trailer that you can watch here.
