Sawed Off (2022) is a horror movie that has been described as The Evil Dead (1981) meets Groundhog Day (1993). It is a supernatural horror feature based on a comic anthology story by Chuck Wagner, a comic books creator involved in volumes of Heavy Metal Magazine, Tales Of Terror, and Alien Encounters. The idea from Sawed Off (2022) comes from the Eclipse Comics story “Bag Limit,” published in Tales Of Terror in 1986.
The movie centers on two hunters, friends for years and vying for the affection of the same woman, who find themselves on cursed land and keep killing each other and coming back to life.
The movie is produced, co-written, and directed by Hunter Johnson, a horror filmmaker also responsible for the features 2 Jennifer (2016), Irrational Fear (2017), and Serena Waits (2018), and segments in the horror anthologies Grindsploitation 2: The Lost Reels (2016), 10/31 (2017), 60 Seconds to Die (2017), 60 Seconds 2 Die: 60 Seconds to Die 2 (2018), and Virus of the Dead (2018). Jody Barton is the co-writer of Sawed Off (2022).
The main cast is formed by Eva Hamilton, Trae Ireland, and the co-writer Jody Barton, with Cris Hernandez and Richard Trejo supporting.
Uncork’d Entertainment has the distribution rights for Sawed Off (2022) and has scheduled the movie for a digital and DVD release on October 11, 2022.
