A new action-comedy with a big dosage of horror has appeared on our radar this week. Many might have not heard much about it, but it seems to have all the ingredients for a fun watch.
Slayers (2022) centers on a group of superstar influencers who are drawn to a reclusive billionaire’s mansion only to find themselves trapped in the lair of an evil vampire. The only way out is to be saved by a famous online gamer and an old-school vampire hunter.
Kick-ass vampire slayer Elliot Jones made it his life’s mission to take revenge on the bloodsuckers who murdered his teenage daughter. After years of tracking them, he has finally reached their secret and hidden base. But to get to them he will need to use a motley crew of social media superstars. Enter ‘The Stream Team’: party girl Jules, Gen-Z pro-gamer Flynn, and their team of trend-makers and breakers! With a hundred million-plus combined followers, they have attracted the attention of reclusive billionaire Beverly Rektor, who invites them to party at her multimillion-dollar vacation compound. They soon discover these rich people are none other than the ancient vampires that Elliot Jones is chasing. When the team is being held captive in a house of horrors to serve the vampires’ plan to take over the world, Elliott is their only hope of survival. As he links up with Flynn, a slayer in her own right, will he take down the vampire horde and save The Stream Team?
This is the new movie from the producer, co-writer, and director K. Asher Levin, who has been behind some film productions like the upcoming this month action thriller Dig (2022) and some episodes of the hit thriller series The Shadow Diaries (2020– ). Zack Imbrogno is the executive producer and co-writer of the screenplay.
The main cast of the movie is filled with popular faces in horror films. Thomas Jane (Deep Blue Sea (1999), Dreamcatcher (2003), The Punisher (2004), The Mist (2007)), Malin Akerman (Watchmen (2009), The Final Girls (2015)), and Abigail Breslin (Signs (2002), Zombieland (2009), Maggie (2015), Final Girl (2015), Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)) star together with Kara Hayward, Jack Donnelly, Lydia Hearst, Ashley Reyes, Galen Howard, and Emmy James.
Slayers (2022) is Rated R for bloody violence and language throughout. The movie is set for a release on digital platforms for digital platforms October 21, 2022.
