There are still a few months left until the movie sees the light in September, but the commercial machinery for The Predator (2018) is already running and roaring. A few weeks ago we showed the first trailer for the movie, and now we have here the second advance. This second trailer is more focused on the fights, we see a group of soldiers and outlaws fighting against the alien hunters. But it seems that the Predators also have some internal issues, perhaps humankind is not alone in this one.
Reportedly, this movie avoids all the events happened in the Alien vs Predator movies, staying as a follow-up to the events happened in Predator 2 (1990). The official plot shared by Twentieth Century Fox reads “from the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race”. Yeah, from what one can see from the two released trailers, that must be about it.
The Predator (2018) is theoretically in good hands since Shane Black was on the director’s seat and also co-wrote the movie. His involvement in action flicks has been constant in his career, being the writer for Lethal Weapon (1987), The Monster Squad (1987), The Last Boy Scout (1991), Last Action Hero (1993) and The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996). As a director, he has shown his talent for good storytelling in titles like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) and The Nice Guys (2016), and with Iron Man 3 (2013) he finally took the step to be in charge of huge Hollywood blockbusters. A son of the classic 1980s and 1990s action movies, Shane Black should be a perfect bet to bring this new entry to the Predator franchise a fresh look.
Yvonne Strahovski, Olivia Munn, Lochlyn Munro, Jacob Tremblay, Sterling K. Brown, Thomas Jane, Boyd Holbrook, Keegan-Michael Key, Edward James Olmos and Jake Busey star in The Predator (2018). The movie is announced to hit theaters worldwide on the 13th of September but we can already check out here the new trailer:
