Sandra Bullock might be a Hollywood superstar, but we can’t say she lavishes much in horror films. But this is about to change since she is the main dish in the highly expected Netflix Original title Bird Box (2018).
In this new movie, that many have remarked it has some resemblance with the recent and successful A Quiet Place (2018), a mysterious force put in real treat the world’s population. Only one thing is certain: if you see it, you take your life. Facing the unknown, Malorie, Sandra Bullock’s character, finds love, hope and a new beginning only for it to unravel. Now she must flee with her two children down a treacherous river to the one place left that may offer sanctuary. But to survive, they’ll have to undertake the perilous two-day journey blindfolded.
The movie is written by Eric Heisserer, an expert in horror and science-fiction movies being the author or co-author of screenplays of remake and sequels A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010), Final Destination 5 (2011) and The Thing (2011), or book adaptations like the essential Arrival (2016). His screenplay for Bird Box (2018) is also an adaptation of the homonymous novel by Josh Malerman. Together with Sandra Bullock, Sarah Paulson, Rosa Salazar, David Dastmalchian, John Malkovich, BD Wong, Parminder Nagra, Machine Gun Kelly, Tom Hollander and Jacki Weaver also star.
Bird Box (2018) is having its premiere at AFI Fest this November, and the 21st of December will open worldwide on Netflix. Primetime Emmy winner for the TV series The Night Manager (2016–2018) Susanne Bier has directed it. This week Netflix shared the official trailer for the movie that you can see here:
