The Bride (2017) is a Russian film that this year has gained some international recognition, achieving even nominations for Best European Film at Brussels International Festival of Fantasy Film (BIFFF) 2017 and winning Best Cinematography at Horrorant Film Festival Fright Nights 2017. This summer it was released as DVD and Blu-ray in some countries, and now we’ve got the confirmation that a Hollywood remake is on its way.
The tandem of scriptwriters Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes, specialized in spooky titles like The Conjuring (2013), The Conjuring 2 (2016) or House of Wax (2005) have been the chosen ones to write the American adaptation of this Russian horror film. It is still unknown who is set to direct it, or who are going to be the stars of this adaptation.
In The Bride (2017), Nastya is a young woman who travels with her soon to be husband to his family home. Upon their arrival, she can’t help but think that the visit may have been a horrible mistake. She is surrounded by strange people and starts witnessing strange, terrible visions as his family prepares her for a mysterious traditional Slavic wedding ceremony. More than the wedding preparations, her biggest fear is to try to manage to survive in that house of nightmares.
