It was only a few weeks ago that the fans of the popular movies franchise based on the videogames were craving for the first trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021), the reboot of the series after the closure of the saga created by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich. And although the waiting was long, the trailer didn’t disappoint, and high expectations are placed on the new film. Now, by a surprise, a new trailer has been released under the title of “Nightmare Trailer”. A very suitable title where we can see the gory and scary tone that is dominating the new movie.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021) serves as a prequel to the events that develop in the original film saga that started with Resident Evil (2002). Once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, the townspeople are forever changed and a small group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.
The cast for the reboot is formed by Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Neal McDonough as William Birkin, and Lily Gao as Ada Wong, all of them popular characters in the videogame series. Tom Hopper, Donal Logue, Avan Jogia, Marina Mazepa, Nathan Dales, and Janet Porter also star.
Johannes Roberts, the writer and director of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021), is known for being responsible for a good bunch of horror movies including Hellbreeder (2004), Darkhunters (2004), Forest of the Damned (2005), F (2010), Storage 24 (2012), The Other Side of the Door (2016), 47 Meters Down (2017), The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018), and 47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019).
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021) is Rated R for strong violence and gore, and language throughout. It is scheduled to be released on November 24, 2021, by Sony Pictures Releasing. Here you can watch the official Nightmare Trailer.
