Quentin Tarantino's next film will be based on the Charles Manson murders

The headline of the week is, for sure, the announcement that Quentin Tarantino is getting ready to start pre-production of his next project. And as The Hollywood Reporter has informed in exclusive, the film, which doesn’t have a published title yet, will be about the Charles Manson crimes. As in the most recent Tarantino films, Harvey and Bob Weinstein are involved in the production, and a big list of top actors are considered to possibly take some of the roles. A few of the names that appear in the polls are Jennifer Lawrence playing Sharon Tate, Brad Pitt as the detective leading the Manson case, and Samuel L.Jackson in an unknown role. It is still a mystery who will portrait Charles Manson himself, or if somebody will play Roman Polanski (remember he was Sharon Tate’s husband at the time of her killing).

Quentin Tarantino is finishing the last details of the script, which he also wrote, before the whole pre-production machinery starts. This will mark the first time in his filmography that he makes a movie based on true events. The Manson Family was a quasi-commune that arose in California in the late 1960s, led by Charles Manson. They gained national notoriety after the infamous murder of actress Sharon Tate and four others on August 8, 1969, by Tex Watson and three other members of the Family, acting under the instructions of Manson. As was stated during the hearings, the instructions were to “totally destroy everyone in [the house], as gruesome as you can”. In 1971, Manson and members of his crew were sentenced to life imprisonment for these and several other murders committed that summer. Group members were also responsible for a number of other murders and assaults, and the attempted assassination of President Gerald Ford.

According to THR, the current plan is for filming to take place sometime in 2018. So it is to expect the film might be released sometime in 2019.
