Since we first heard about this movie, Bit (2019) called the interest of avid horror fans craving for something exciting besides the classic good guts and blood, a group in which I include myself. A transgender teenage girl on summer vacation in Los Angeles fights to survive after she falls in with four queer feminist vampires, who try to rid the city’s streets of predatory men sounds like a very yummy plotline in the right hands, and this weekend we can finally see what’s behind it.
Bit (2019) tells the story of Laurel, a teenage transgender girl who moves to LA and falls in with a gang of intersectional feminist vampires. Not knowing if they want to kill her, befriend her or turn her, Laurel learns to understand the love and dangers of her new and first group of friends.
Nicole Maines (Supergirl (2018-2020) TV series) plays the main role. She is accompanied by Diana Hopper, Zolee Griggs, Friday Chamberlain, M.C. Gainey, James Paxton, Greg Hill, Brent Chase, Seya Hug, Char Diaz, and Tiffany Milian. Brad Michael Elmore (Boogeyman Pop (2018)) has been the writer and director of Bit (2019).
The movie premiered at Toronto’s LGBT Inside Out Film Festival last summer and it was called “the badass power fantasy we’ve always dreamed of” by Bloody-Disgusting. Now, it is going to be on Video on Demand platforms like Vudu, iTunes, and Amazon on Friday, April 24th. Here you can watch the official trailer for Bit (2019):
