Drew Goddard shocked the horror audiences worldwide with his first and to date only movie The Cabin in the Woods (2012). A thrilling and innovative movie with plenty of tributes to most of the genre cliches and characters. And although he has been busy working as writer and producer of some of the most celebrated titles of the last years like World War Z (2013) or The Martian (2015), many of us were wondering which would be the next adventure with him behind the cameras. Well, now we know it, and the news can’t be more exciting!

There is not much known about his new project, entitled Bad Times at the El Royale (2018), since it’s been kept in a sealed secrecy. We know it is a thriller set in the 1960s in a dilapidated hotel in the Lake Tahoe region in California where a bunch of strange characters from different backgrounds will get together, following all sorts of violent and mysterious events.

Besides this marking the comeback for Drew Goddard in the direction of a feature film, with a script written by himself, another fact to keep us all expecting the coming of this new title is the names that will populate the cast. It’s been announced that Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) will be starred by Chris Hemsworth, Dakota Johnson, Russell Crowe and Jeff Bridges. A winning poker of stars that surely will bring lots of magic to the film.

This Twentieth Century Fox feature is currently in the state of pre-production. Filming is expected to start soon in Vancouver, Canada. Bad Times at the El Royale (2018) is expected to come out in October 2018 worldwide. Perhaps it can be one of the main dishes for this year’s summer fantastic film festivals?
