Sometimes shit gets too serious and we forget that we are here just for the fun. That’s why I think Slice (2018) is one of the movies to look forward. Why? Well, a pizza delivery driver gets murdered under mysterious circumstances and everything points that a werewolf is on the loose in the city, together with other supernatural entities. To me that sounds like tasty ingredients for a good horror comedy.
Slice (2018) is the debut film of writer and director Austin Vesely. Until now his career highlights were some short films and music videos for rap musician Chance the Rapper, who also has a role in the movie. Perhaps Chance Bennett’s artistic alter-ego is not very known overseas, but he has his legion of fans in the USA and has appeared in prestigious shows like The Ellen DeGeneres Show or Saturday Night Live, late night shows like Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel’s, and even was part of The 69th Primetime Emmy Awards (2017).
Zazie Beetz, recently seen in Deadpool 2 (2018), also joins the party. Katherine Cunningham, Joe Keery, Y’lan Noel, Paul Scheer, Austin Vesely, Rebecca Spence, Rae Gray, Will Brill, Gary Houston and Felicia Fields complete the main cast.
A24, who also brought recent memorable titles like Ex Machina (2014), Green Room (2015), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) and Hereditary (2018), are in charge of the worldwide distribution. There is no opening date yet, neither if it will have a theatrical release or will be a straight to Video on Demand title, but for the moment we can savour the first teaser for Slice (2018):
