With an epic new version of Radiohead’s hit song Creep, lots of action, some subtle comedy, and generous blood splattering, the final trailer for the movie Renfield (2023) is finally out now.
Nicolas Cage has always been after the role of Dracula, has played himself a vampire sometimes, and even produced the cult classic film Shadow of the Vampire (2000), but this is finally the time he gets to be in the shoes and cape of The Prince of Darkness.
With a promising and attractive crew led by Chris McKay, the Primetime Emmy Awards winner for Robot Chicken (2001) and also the director of The Lego Batman Movie (2017) and The Tomorrow War (2021) as the director, and Primetime Emmy Awards for Rick and Morty (2013) Ryan Ridley, and the creator of the graphic novel The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman as the writers, the movie is one of the most exciting titles of the spring season.
Besides Nicolas Cage as the Count Dracula, Nicholas Hoult (nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his role in The Great (2020), and also present in Warm Bodies (2013) and Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)) plays R.M. Renfield. Awkwafina, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Brandon Scott Jones, Jenna Kanell, Ben Schwartz, Caroline Williams, and William Ragsdale, who was the star in Fright Night (1985), complete the main cast.
Renfield (2023) is a modern take on the monster tale of Dracula’s loyal servant and tortured aide to history’s most narcissistic boss, Count Dracula. Renfield is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding, no matter how debased. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his codependency.
Renfield (2023) is Rated R for bloody violence, some gore, language throughout, and some drug use. It will premiere at the Overlook Film Festival on March 30, 2023. After that, it will come out in theaters by Universal Pictures on April 14, 2023, in the United States and most of the world, although some territories like Australia, Argentina, or Brazil will see the release one week before. In Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands it is coming out on May 25, 2023.
