After receiving a mysterious letter, a woman travels to a desolate island town and soon becomes trapped in a nightmare. This is the premise of the horror and fantasy movie Offseason (2021).
More in detail, upon receiving a mysterious letter that her mother’s gravesite has been vandalized, Marie quickly returns to the isolated offshore island where her late mother is buried. When she arrives, she discovers that the island is closing for the offseason with the bridges raised until Spring, leaving her stranded. One strange interaction with the local townspeople after another, Marie soon realizes that something is not quite right in this small town. She must unveil the mystery behind her mother’s troubled past in order to make it out alive.
This is the new movie from writer and director Mickey Keating, who has been behind other horror titles like Ritual (2013), Pod (2015), Darling (2015), Carnage Park (2016), and Psychopaths (2017).
The main cast of Offseason (2021) is formed by Jocelin Donahue, a popular face in horror movies who has participated in The Burrowers (2008), The House of the Devil (2009), Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), Summer Camp (2015), Dead Awake (2016), All the Creatures Were Stirring (2018), I Trapped the Devil (2019), and Doctor Sleep (2019), and Richard Brake, that after some supporting roles in movies like Doom (2005) or Hannibal Rising (2007) he became part of the habitual Rob Zombie film clan having appeared in Halloween II (2009), 31 (2016), 3 from Hell (2019), and is also having a role in the upcoming Munsters TV series adaptation currently in production. Joe Swanberg, Melora Walters, Jeremy Gardner, April Linscott, Jonathan Medina, and Eliza Shin complete the main cast.
Offseason (2021) has been part of several film festivals along 2021 including South by Southwest Film Festival, Philadelphia International Film Festival, and Torino Film Festival. Now it is scheduled for a digital release on March 11, 2022. Watch here its official trailer.
