Nicolas Cage versus exotic zoo animals on a boat... is on the way

I bet everybody who reads about this new upcoming Nicolas Cage movie will have in mind that crazy and funny adventure Samuel L. Jackson starred called Snakes on a Plane (2006). Of course, it’s the natural comparison, “pets on a boat”.

Probably that is what the producers are searching when they green light a title such as Primal. In it, a veteran renown hunter played by Nicolas Cage is working on behalf of a zoo. He must survive on a Greek freightliner after his latest loot of dangerous, exotic wild animals are set free by an escaped political assassin, aboard the ship to be extradited to the USA. Of course, after the crazed perilous animals break out, the Cage vs Wild Life action starts.

Nick Powell, a veteran stunt artist and fight choreographer in titles such as Resident Evil: Retribution (2012), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), 28 Days Later… (2002) or The Mummy (1999), makes his directorial debut here. The script is written by Richard Leder a prolific screen writer for TV movies.

2017 and 2018 are going to be two quite busy years for Nicolas Cage. He has a bunch of titles in the works or already completed waiting for their release. Some of these movies like Mandy (2018), Between Worlds (2017), Looking Glass (2017) or Mom and Dad (2017) are expected to be some interesting pieces. Although others like The Humanity Bureau (2017), #211 (2017) or Vengeance: A Love Story (2017) sound like Nick Cage classic straight to video mediocre entertainment failures. In which category will Primal end up residing? I guess soon we’ll know.
