Next 19th of April a new movie produced by James Wan will hit theaters. The title is The Curse of La Llorona (2019) and its based on the Mexican folklore legend of La Llorona, the ghost of a woman who lost her children and now cries while looking for them in the river, often causing misfortune to those who are near or hear her.

Set in the 1970s, The Curse of La Llorona (2019) tells the story of a social worker and her own small kids who ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. Their only hope to survive La Llorona‘s deadly wrath may be a disillusioned priest and the mysticism he practices to keep evil at bay, on the fringes where fear and faith collide. Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis wrote the screenplay while Michael Chaves makes his directorial debut. Linda Cardellini, Patricia Velasquez, Madeleine McGraw, Raymond Cruz, Tony Amendola, Sean Patrick Thomas, John Marshall Jones, Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen, Marisol Ramirez, Andrew Tinpo Lee, Irene Keng, DeLaRosa Rivera and Sophia Santi star in the film.

The Curse of La Llorona (2019) is produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster together with New Line Cinema, and Warner Bros. will distribute worldwide. Before the theatrical release, the movie will have a world premiere at prestigious South by Southwest Film Festival. But before all that comes, you can watch the new trailer here:
