New remake for Indian supernatural thriller “U Turn”

New remake for Indian supernatural thriller "U Turn"

U Turn (2016) was an Indian Kannada-language supernatural thriller film written, produced, and directed by Pawan Kumar. The plot revolves around the death of motorists who break a traffic rule at a particular flyover in Bangalore and subsequent pinning down of the culprit by an intern journalist and police inspector duo. It later had a new adaptation by the same director into a Telugu-Tamil bilingual in 2018 with the same title. The success of the first film was also the origin of another Indian remake, directed by V. K. Prakash, and made in Malayalam-language, this time entitled Careful (2017). And now, a new remake of the film has been made, this time from the Philippines and in the Tagalog and Filipino languages.

The new U Turn (2020) film follows the life of Donna, a junior reporter who covers an incident on an abandoned highway where some people allegedly make an illegal u-turn. Strange things start to happen every day as our protagonist slowly uncovers each insidious mystery.

The movie has been directed by Roderick “Derick” Cabrido, an award-winning Filipino documentary producer and filmmaker who has also been behind horror and crime movies Clarita (2019), Purgatoryo (2016), and Tuos (2016). Cenon Palomares has been in charge of the adaptation of the screenplay.

Kim Chiu, JM de Guzman, Tony Labrusca, Janella Salvador, Martin del Rosario, Miel Espinoza, Kate Alejandrino, Cris Villanueva, Almira Muhlach, Jerry O’Hara, Simon Ibarra, Markus Paterson, and Cris Villonco form the main cast of the movie.

Since October 30, 2020, U Turn (2020) is available on-demand. Here you can watch its official trailer.
