Farewells are normally taken as sad events. But if the farewell comes with a good feeling, then sadness shouldn’t have a place in. And seems like this is what is happening with Logan (2017), reportedly the last time actors Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart will get in the skin of the characters of The Wolverine and Professor Charles Xavier respectively. Pretty sure this won’t be the last adventure of the X-Men, since the franchise has been rebooted and the current new series already have new and younger faces. But, so far, voices claim that we have in hands what might be by far the best X-Men film until date.
This week Logan (2017) was screened in a prestigious and “serious” film festival like Berlinale 2017 and the reaction and opinion couldn’t be more positive. Critics and audience even dare to mention this new title is closer to auteur cinema than to dumb super hero movies where the only thing that matter are the explossions, overdose of CGI effects and hyperactive editing. We will have to wait only a few more days to have our own opinions, since the film comes out to theatres world wide the first weekend of March.
Twentieth Century Fox Films have written this crepuscular plot about Logan (2017): “In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan‘s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.”
The new and amazing official IMAX poster has been released this week. “The twilight of our heroes”, seem to be entitled. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be long missed, as well as the wise and superb Patrick Stewart’s portrait of Professor Charles Xavier, the true leader. But if the movie is as good as it seems, it won’t be a sad farewell.
