Project Power (2020) is an action and science-fiction movie included in the superhero subgenre about a drug dealer, a police officer, and a former soldier who team up to stop the distribution of a pill that gives the user superpowers for five minutes.
The movie has been directed by the tandem formed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, who have been responsible for titles like Paranormal Activity 3 (2011), Paranormal Activity 4 (2012), Viral (2016), and Nerve (2016), and have also been announced to be in charge of the popular Capcom video game series film adaptation Mega Man. The movie has been written by Mattson Tomlin, one of the authors of the screenplay for the long-awaited DC film The Batman (2021).
In Project Power (2020), on the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop teams with a teenage drug dealer and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta to fight power with power and risk taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.
The movie is starred by Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Dominique Fishback. The main cast is completed with Machine Gun Kelly, Rodrigo Santoro, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Landecker, Tait Fletcher, Allen Maldonado, Andrene Ward-Hammond, Mike Seal, Kyanna Simpson, C.J. LeBlanc, CG Lewis, and Joseph Poliquin.
Filming for Project Power (2020) began in New Orleans on October 8, 2018, and concluded on December 22, 2018. The movie has been Rated R for violence, bloody images, drug content, and some language.
