Veteran movies writer Dan Gilroy, known for the screenplays of titles like Freejack (1992), Two for the Money (2005), Real Steel (2011), The Bourne Legacy (2012) or Kong: Skull Island (2017), surprised everyone with his debut feature film as director, as well as writer, Nightcrawler (2014). The story of a graphic journalist who blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story, became one of the most notorious movies of the year, as well as achieving an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

Now, Gilroy’s next movie, produced and set to distribution by Netflix, is currently filming under the name Stacked, announced last week Variety in exclusive. The plot follows big-money artists and mega-collectors who pay a high price when art collides with commerce, and it’s been cathegorized under the labels of horror thriller. Sounds interesting, right??

Dan Gilroy’s frequent collaborators Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo are part of the cast, which also includes Natalia Dyer, Billy Magnussen, Toni Collette, John Malkovich, Daveed Diggs, Tom Sturridge and Zawe Ashton.

Stacked is expected to join Netflix catalog by the end of this year 2018. Veteran star John Malkovich has found his second home in productions owned by the popular streaming platform, after forming part of the cast of scifi thriller Bird Box (2018) together with Sandra Bullock, and action flick Mile 22 (2018) with Mark Wahlberg. On the other side, the always interesting Toni Collette has starred the title that all the experts anticipate to be the most notorious horror movie of the year, Hereditary (2018).
