For his next adventure, he has joined forcer with popular Video on Demand service Netflix to develop an action and science-fiction flick called We Can Be Heroes. In it, a young girl, who is the daughter of a retired superhero, discovers that she has powers and puts together a group of other young heroes to help stop an alien invasion. The perfect kind of story for a man like Robert Rodriguez.
We Can Be Heroes, that is also written by Robert Rodriguez, will be starred by young Indian singer and action star Priyanka Chopra, who can be seen in Baywatch (2017), Mary Kom (2014), and Don 2 (2011). Together with her, Pedro Pascal, Christian Slater, Boyd Holbrook, Christopher McDonald, Sung Kang, Adriana Barraza, Vivien Lyra Blair, Akira Akbar, Hala Finley, Nick Stevenson, Lotus Blossom, YaYa Gosselin, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, and Andy Walken complete the main cast.
We Can Be Heroes is currently filming, although there are no details yet about the release dates.
This movie is a new addition to Netflix’s recent approach in developing a series of action flicks with a big name in the director’s seat. Other notorious titles that are being in production are Zack Snyder’s zombie odyssey Army of the Dead, currently filming and starring Ana de la Reguera, Dave Bautista and Ella Purnell, or Michael Bay’s vigilante squad flick 6 Underground (2019), starring Ryan Reynolds, Mélanie Laurent, and Adria Arjona, and scheduled to come out in December this year.
