Neil Jordan directs Chloë Grace Moretz and Isabelle Huppert in horror mystery "Greta"

The fact that Neil Jordan is back to the genre of horror is always something to celebrate. Always with his very personal style the Irish director, Oscar winner for The Crying Game (1992), is back to the genre that gave him some of his most successful titles like The Company of Wolves (1984), In Dreams (1999), Byzantium (2012) and, overall, the first adaptation of the popular Anne Rice novels Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994), which became a cult classic for an entire generation.

After spending the last years working on the Television series The Borgias (2011–2013) and Riviera (2017– ), the director’s new movie is called Greta (2018). It tells the story of a young woman who becomes good friends with a lonely widow who’s harboring a dark and deadly agenda towards her. The ingredients for a classic psychological horror thriller, one of the specialties of the filmmaker. It is based on a story by Ray Wright, writer of other horror and mystery movies like Pulse (2006), Case 39 (2009) and The Crazies (2010), and he also wrote the screenplay together with Neil Jordan.

The star duo is played by two popular actresses, both of them real referents of their generations, veteran Isabelle Huppert and the always interesting  Chloë Grace Moretz. With them, Maika Monroe, Zawe Ashton, Colm Feore, and the director’s frequent collaborator Stephen Rea also star.

Greta (2018) premiered at TIFF – Toronto International Film Festival last September where it had a positive reception. It will come out to theaters in the USA this next weekend, the 1st of May, and it will be followed for other international opening dates in the following weeks.
