The Woman in the Window (2020) is an upcoming 2020 American psychological mystery thriller based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Daniel Mallory under his pseudonymous A. J. Finn. The novel debuted at number one on the New York Times Best Seller list. Joe Wright, who is probably better known for his romance and biography movies, and also responsible for the hidden gem action-thriller Hanna (2011) has been chosen to direct the movie adaptation.
Tracy Letts, the writer of the two last fiction films by cult director William Friedkin Bug (2006) and Killer Joe (2011), has been in charge of the screenplay. Amy Adams, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore, Anthony Mackie, Wyatt Russell, Brian Tyree Henry, Fred Hechinger, Anna Cameron, and Liza Colón-Zayas for the main cast.
The Woman in the Window (2020) centers an agoraphobic woman living alone in New York who begins spying on her new neighbors only to witness a disturbing act of violence. Despite the similar plot, this is not a remake of Rear Window (1954).
The Woman in the Window (2020) was originally scheduled to be released on October 4, 2019, by 20th Century Fox. However, on July 9, it was pushed back to 2020 as Disney retooled the film due to the negative test audience response towards the third act. It is scheduled to be released on May 15, 2020.
