She Dies Tomorrow (2020) is an upcoming American comedy-drama thriller film, with a big dosage of fantasy, about a girl named Amy who thinks she’s dying tomorrow. And that sends her down a dizzying emotional spiral. So when Amy’s skeptical friend Jane discovers her friend’s feeling of imminent death to be contagious, they both begin bizarre journeys through what might be the last day of their lives.
This rollercoaster of sensations, emotions, and madness has been written, produced, and directed by Amy Seimetz. She is better known for her work as an actress, which reported her numerous awards like the Horror Jury Prize at Austin Fantastic Fest for A Horrible Way to Die (2010), and Special Jury Award at SXSW Film Festival for The Myth of the American Sleepover (2010). She has also been part of movies like Bitter Feast (2010), You’re Next (2011), Upstream Color (2013), The Sacrament (2013), The Reconstruction of William Zero (2014), Alien: Covenant (2017) and Pet Sematary (2019), as well as being co-creator, co-producer and one of the main stars of TV series The Girlfriend Experience (2016– ) based on the Steven Soderbergh film of the same name. But after working in front of the cameras in projects by Lena Dunham, Ti West, and Adam Wingard, she is also an accomplished filmmaker who has released a good bunch of short films, directed some TV episodes and debuted as director of a feature film with Sun Don’t Shine (2012), for which she got several nominations and awards including winning Special Jury Award at SXSW Film Festival 2012.
She Dies Tomorrow (2020) is starred by Kate Lyn Sheil, an actress that has shared the screen with Amy Seimetz on a few occasions and has also worked under her direction on TV and her debut feature film. Together with her, Jane Adams, Kentucker Audley, Katie Aselton, Chris Messina, Tunde Adebimpe, Jennifer Kim, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Josh Lucas, Michelle Rodriguez, and Adam Wingard also star.
The initial plan was She Dies Tomorrow (2020) having its world premiere at South by Southwest Film Festival on March 14, 2020. Sadly, the festival was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Neon acquired distribution rights to the film, and it is scheduled to be released in a limited release on July 31, 2020, followed by a video on demand on August 7, 2020. “Amy Seimetz is a bold new voice, and with the groundbreaking, She Dies Tomorrow (2020) has easily created one of the most prescient films of the decade,” Neon said. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring this unique and incredible SXSW premiere to audiences all around the world”.
