After titles a little bit away from his dark origins like Black Swan (2010) or The Wrestler (2008), and some flirting with Hollywood brainless blockbusters like Noah (2014), writer-director Darren Aronofsky is back to the obscure drama and mystery of his first and most acclaimed titles Pi (1998) and Requiem for a Dream (2000). The filmmaker from Brooklyn is now in the middle of the post-production of his latest film Mother! (2017), a dark mystery drama with doses of horror about a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.
The movie, also written by Darren Aronofsky, is starred by big names like Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer, Brian Gleeson and Kristen Wiig among others, a real luxury lineup that can almost guarantee delicious performances. That, together with the exquisite eye of Aronofsky for excellent texts and perturbing imaginary, one can only expect Mother! (2017) to be one of the most interesting titles of the season.
Not much is known about this flick. We are still waiting for some official trailer or images to witness the tone the movie will have. But we do have some official international release dates. Mother! (2017) will come out in October in many countries around the world, although locations like Italy, Portugal, Norway, Sweden or UK will have to wait until November. But fall 2017 is when it will see the light.
