Lin Shaye and Tobin Bell star in horror-thriller "The Call"

Lin Shaye and Tobin Bell are two veteran actors who finally made it to the highest rank of horror performers at an old age and thanks to two of the most successful sagas of the last decades. Starting her career in the late 1970s, Lin Shaye was perhaps better known as Cameron Diaz’s old weird friend in crazy comedy There’s Something About Mary (1998) until the role of Elise Rainier in the Insidious saga landed on her. Since the first movie, Insidious 2010), she has been very prolific in all sorts of horror titles, most of the time as the top-billed actor. On the other side, Tobin Bell has been present if uncountable titles since the early 1980s, especially in thriller films until he was cast as John Kramer / Jigsaw in the SAW franchise. And, as happened with his colleague, after Saw (2004) he has been present in many movies. With so similar trajectories it is not a surprise that sooner or later both actors were going to star in a film, and that is what happened in The Call (2020).

Set in the fall of 1987, The Call (2020) centers on a group of small-town friends who following a tragic accident they end up at the door of a sinister couple, played by Lin Shaye and Tobin Bell, of course. The group of youngsters will have to fight for their lives in order to survive the night.

The movie is the new work of prolific director Timothy Woodward Jr., responsible for many horror and science-fiction titles like 7 Faces of Jack the Ripper (2014), Gnome Alone (2015), Checkmate (2015), WEAPONiZED (2016), or The Final Wish (2018). Patrick Stibbs debuts here as the writer of a screenplay.

Chester Rushing, Erin Sanders, Mike Manning, Sloane Morgan Siegel, Judd Lormand, Randy J. Goodwin, and Brooklyn Anne Miller form the main cast together with the main star duo.

The Call (2020) was released on digital on October 30, 2020, after a limited theatrical release. The movie got mixed opinions, achieving an approval rating of 67% on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, it is available on Blu-ray since December 15, 2020. Here you can watch the trailer for the movie.
