Liam Neeson is back with another adrenaline action-thriller. Probably nobody would have guessed this towering-size Irish actor would become the most prolific and acclaimed action star of the last decade when he started his career in the late 1970s in a series of classic adventure films to later move into more social drama-oriented and thrillers. But there he is, the star of the film saga Taken has found his own piece of the cake.
In his new movie Blacklight (2022), Neeson plays Travis Block, a freelance government operative coming to terms with his shadowy past. When he discovers a plot targeting U.S. citizens, Block finds himself in the crosshairs of the FBI director he once helped protect. But as Block attempts redemption by enlisting a journalist to get the truth out, his daughter and granddaughter are threatened — and a danger that has existed on the margins.
This is the new movie from director Mark Williams, known for A Defintely Maybe (2016) and who already worked with Neeson in his latest movie to date Honest Thief (2020). He has also been the writer of the screenplay together with Nick May, a former U.S. Department of Justice attorney during the Obama administration, from a story by Brandon Reavis.
Besides Liam Neeson, Aidan Quinn, Taylor John Smith, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Claire van der Boom, Yael Stone, Andrew Shaw, Zac Lemons, Gabriella Sengos, Tim Draxl, Georgia Flood, Caroline Brazier, and Mel Jarnson also star.
Blacklight (2022) is Rated PG-13 for strong violence, action, and language. The movie is distributed by Briarcliff Entertainment and is coming out on February 11, 2022, in the USA and Canada, and in the next week in other countries. Watch here its official trailer.
