"Leatherface", the prequel for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), comes out this October

This title is one of the most awaited movies of horror fans. What could be the origins of the deranged family who kidnap and torture youngsters in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)? How an evil and almost inhuman being like Leatherface can be born? Was Leatherface always wearing his skin mask and brandishing his chainsaw all around? After many delays and crossed information, even rumors that the movie might never be ending up being a fact, we finally got the confirmation that the production is in its works and is expected to hit theaters in the USA this October.

Taking place before the events of the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), this prequel is about teenage Leatherface who escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnaps a young nurse and takes her on a road trip from hell. Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind, molding him into the monster we now call Leatherface. The movie is written by Seth M. Sherwood and directed by the combo formed by Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, the creators of the disturbing french title À l’intérieur (2007).

The cast includes names like Lili Taylor, Nicole Andrews, Sam Strike, Julian Kostov, Sam Coleman, James Bloor, Lorina Kamburova, Vanessa Grasse, Ian Fisher and Stephen Dorff as the vengeful Texas Ranger Hal Hartman.

It would be nice to have Leatherface (2017) in the horror genre film festivals this summer, although the secrecy of the film avoids us to know about the planned schedule. But what we do have is an intriguing official poster.
