Jordan Peele's “Us”, opening in theaters next 22nd, achieves great reviews at SXSW

Since the first images and clips from Jordan Peele’s Us (2019) started to see the light, the movie became one of the most awaited titles of the year. In part because the obscure cinematography and the little plot story that one could retrieve from those little teases seemed like this could be a creepy little mindfuck of a horror thriller. And also because Get Out (2017), the debut movie of the filmmaker, was one of the most astonishing genre pieces of the decade [read our review here].

This weekend Us (2019) had its worldwide premiere at the South by Southwest Film Festival. Those who had the honor to witness the movie agreed that it doesn’t disappoint, and that the former comedian turned into already an iconic horror creator has done it again. With such a simple premise of a family escaping from their busy routine taking a small California trip vacation only to find themselves with some unexpected visitors that look like evil versions of themselves. But that, in the hands of Jordan Peele, can become something really scary.

Jordan Peele writes and directs this Monkeypaw Productions and Universal Pictures production. Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Evan Alex, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Elisabeth Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Anna Diop, Kara Hayward, Tim Heidecker, and Nathan Harrington star.
