It was predicted and it’s becoming a reality. A Quiet Place (2018) is undoubtfully one of the horror films of the year. This horror title has grossed over 50 million dollars on its American opening week and it seems to stay keeping the audience interest. Besides, the movie is not out yet in countries like Spain, Portugal or France, so it is fair to augur that the amount of collected money achieved by it will increase.

So its director John Krasinski can be more than happy with the result. Him and the producers from Paramount and Platinum Dunes, also responsible for A Quiet Place (2018), are in negotiations for Life on Mars, reports Variety. Rumors are that this time the successful comedian better known as the always loveable Jim Halpert on the hit TV series The Office (2005–2013) won’t be in front of the cameras taking basically the job of director. Although nothing is yet signed.

The script for Life on Mars is based on a short story by graphic novelist Cecil Castellucci, also known as Cecil Seaskull, called We Have Always Lived on Mars. In it, a woman is among a handful of descendants of a Martian colony long-abandoned by Earth following a cataclysm. One day, the woman finds she can breathe the air on Mars, upending her world and that of her fellow colonists.

Life on Mars will mark the third feature film of John Krasinski as a director, after debuting with the drama comedy Brief Interviews with Hideous Men (2009) and stepping firmly in the terrain of horror with his second movie A Quiet Place (2018). Now it seems to be the time for a science fiction adventure, from a director that has already proved to host a good eye and devotion for genre movies.
