Jason Blum, the owner of Blumhouse Productions, made the promise that the new Halloween movie will come out next October. “You can kill me. You can behead me. You can chop my hand off, the prince of horror, you can cut my hand off. That’s on the record” told The Wrap. The new entry for the Halloween franchise is currently being written by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride. They both are also executive producers of the movie, a position that John Carpenter himself has enrolled too.
The creator of the Halloween universe and absolute Master of Horror has expressed his good feelings towards this new movie. In fact, he voiced out his hope for being also responsible for the soundtrack. We must remember John Carpenter is a very accomplished musician who scored most of his own films, as well as others’, and has released a couple of studio albums, Lost Themes (2015) and Lost Themes II (2016).
David Gordon Green will direct this new Halloween film, that will be some sort of follow-up for the Michael Myers character. The idea of the filmmakers is to dig into the character to expose the true evil of his persona. It is not supposed to be a reboot like Rob Zombie did with his films Halloween (2007) and Halloween II (2009). Allegedly the idea is to picture what happens to Myers after the events portraited in the original John Carpenter Halloween (1978).
