In 2015 a small independent film outstood in front of many by its rawness in a situation that gets out of control. The title of the movie was Green Room (2015). Since then there has been an expectation of what is going to be the new project for its writer and director Jeremy Saulnier. And that project is about to see the light.
Hold the Dark (2018) tells the story of a retired naturalist and wolf expert named Russell Core who journeys to the edge of civilization in northern Alaska at the pleading of Medora Slone, a young mother whose son was killed by a pack of wolves. As Core attempts to help Medora track down the wolves who took her son, a strange and dangerous relationship develops between the two lonely souls. But when Medora’s husband Vernon returns home from the Iraq War, the news of his child’s death ignites a violent chain of events. A local cop, Donald Marium, races to stop Vernon’s vengeful rampage, Core is forced on a perilous odyssey into the heart of darkness.
Macon Blair, a friend and frequent collaborator of director Jeremy Saulnier, has written the screenplay of Hold the Dark (2018) based on the book of the same name by William Giraldi. Blair also has a supporting role on the film, which is starred by Jeffrey Wright, Alexander Skarsgård, Riley Keough, James Badge Dale, Savonna Spracklin and Jonathan Whitesell.
Netflix will add the movie as part as their Netflix Originals catalog on the 28th of September, but first, it will screen at Fantastic Fest and Toronto International Film Festival. And to warm up the motors the popular streaming platform has released its official trailer. You can watch it here:
