The movie centers on a hard-working blue-collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter, but his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income, hunting and killing vampires as part of an international Union of vampire hunters. The LA vampire hunter has a week to come up with the cash to pay for his kid’s tuition and braces. Trying to make a living these days just might kill him.
J.J. Perry, a stunts artist who has participated in titles like Bloodshot (2020), John Wick (2014), The Expendables 3 (2014), and many other outstanding titles in the action genre of the last years, as well as being the second unit director in the films The Dark Tower (2017), The Fate of the Furious (2017), Oldboy (2013), and Get the Gringo (2012), debuts as a director of a feature film with Day Shift (2022). The screenplay has been written by Shay Hatten, also the writer of Army of the Dead (2021), Army of Thieves (2021), and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019), together with Tyler Tice.
Alongside Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg, the main cast of the movie is formed by Dave Franco, Karla Souza, Meagan Good, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Oliver Masucci, Steve Howey, and Scott Adkins.
Day Shift (2022) is Rated R for strong violence and gore, and, language. Chad Stahelski, the creator and director of the John Wick franchise, is producing by his banner 87North Productions. Netflix is distributing internationally and has set the release date for the film as August 12, 2022.
