Okay, this is one of the most exciting tandems in the horror scene of the last decade. Lionsgate has acquired the rights for the thriller Smart House and James Wan is set to produce the title, while Alexandre Aja will direct it! Only something amazing can bloom from this.
Smart House tells the story of a family in the witness protection program who are located in one of that high technology “smart houses” to be kept safe. But when a group of assassins goes hunt the family, the house flips out and becomes a killing machine where the attack is the best defense. it all comes from an idea from James Wan himself and has been written by Brad Keene.
The movie is still in pre-production so nothing about the cast has transcended. Filming schedules are also unknown, so it is still ignored if this will be the next Alexandre Aja or first he will take care of his other announced project Space Adventure Cobra.
James Wan is highlighting in the past decade as one of the most creative horror minds, either if he is behind the cameras like with the Saw (2004), Insidious (2010) or The Conjuring (2013), but has also shined as a producer of big references of modern horror like Annabelle (2014) or the whole SAW series. That’s why only excitement can flow when is heard he is joining forces with Alexandre Aja, one of the most attractive genre directors of the last years with titles like Haute tension (2003), The Hills Have Eyes (2006) and Piranha 3D (2010) under his arms.
