If you are a fan of the good old B-movies from the 1980s like we are, you might be interested in Welcome to Willits (2016). Check out the plot: “Deep in the Northern California woods, in the heart of the notorious Emerald Triangle, lies a remote cabin. The residents struggle to fight off the repeated attacks and abductions by mysterious creatures that have plagued them for years. When a local pot farmer is caught up with a wayward group of campers the situation quickly escalates into total carnage”.
The movie, written by Tim Ryan and directed by Trevor Ryan, is their debut as filmmakers in a feature film. In fact, Welcome to Willits (2016) is the longer version of their previous short film Welcome to Willits: After Sundown (2013). The movie has been seen in several genre festivals along 2016 and 2017, collecting a good bunch of good reviews and some nominations and awards, like Best Director at the North Hollywood Cinefest 2017 and Audience Award for the Pasadena International Film Festival, US 2017.
The cast for the movie includes names like Karrueche Tran, Chris Zylka, Erica Eynon, Joe LoCicero, Rory Culkin, Anastasia Baranova, Thomas Dekker, Garrett Clayton, Sabina Gadecki, Bill Sage, Keelin Woodell, Serge Levin, Shad Gaspard and John D. Hickman, and even Dolph Lundgren in a small role. We can’t thank enough Dolph Lundgren for participating in this kind of underground horror films as he is doing in the last years with titles like Don’t Kill It (2016), Battle of the Damned (2013) or Legendary (2013).
Welcome to Willits (2016) has already had a DVD premiere in the UK and released on Video On Demand in Scandinavian countries. But this next September 22nd the movie will be available on internet streaming platforms worldwide. And now, without more ado, check out the second official trailer for Welcome to Willits (2016):
