Now that the social media has a huge impact and control over our lives, especially the youngest generations, we find ourselves idolizing a bunch of people that a decade ago would be absolutely anonymous. New professions such as influencer, Instagrammer, or Youtuber didn’t exist a few years ago and might probably sound like made-up words for a great portion of the population. But, still, here they are, and they seem to be here to stay, so we better get used to them. False idols for many, worthless phoneys for some, but gods made of flesh for a few.
Infamous (2020) is an upcoming American crime thriller that follows the story of a criminal couple, who after a series of armed robberies, become infamous social media stars. On the run from the authorities, they continue their notorious exploits across the Southland, increasing in both violence and disorder to pursue social media fame, no matter the cost. Living in a small Florida town and working at a diner was never Arielle’s dream life. She’s always wanted more. Fame. Popularity. Admiration. When she falls for a recently paroled young criminal named Dean, she drags him back into a life of danger, learning that posting their criminal exploits on social media is an easy way to viral fame. Obsessed with their rising number of followers, they embark on a dangerous adventure together that leads to robbery, cop chases and even murder. Heading to Hollywood, the City of Stars, they will realize what it takes to become famous and have to decide if this dangerous lifestyle is really worth it
Infamous (2020) is the new movie written and directed by Joshua Caldwell. He is better known for his drama Layover (2014) and the thriller Negative (2017), jobs that landed on him after an extensive career directing a collection of short films and TV series, including being the winner of the mtvU Student Filmmaker Award with his short film The Beautiful Lie (2006).
Bella Thorne, Jake Manley, Marisa Coughlan, Amber Riley, Billy Blair, Robert Peters, Michael Sirow, Paul T. Taylor, and Madi Bready form the main cast of Infamous (2020). Principal photography for the movie began in July 2019. In May 2020, Vertical Entertainment acquired distribution rights to the film. The film is set to be released digitally on June 12, 2020.
