Hungarian science-fiction drama "Eden" is out next week

Eden (2020) is a science-fiction and drama film that has been in several European international film festivals along the last year 2020 where it has received a positive reception from the audience and some Best Film nominations. Digging more in the terms of the self and not so much in the scientific or fantasy aspects, the movie is designed to touch the viewers’ emotions.

In the movie, Éva is allergic to all kinds of chemical substances, air pollution, radio waves, and electronic fields. She needs to live in total isolation and can have no contact with her environment. The slightest mistake may cause her death. Her only relations are with her brother and the doctors continuously experimenting on her. One day a psychiatrist comes to investigate if her illness is real or exists only in Éva’s mind. Will love be enough to save her?

This is the new movie from Hungarian filmmaker Ágnes Kocsis, whose movie Pál Adrienn (2010) was the winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. She has also been the co-writer of the screenplay together with Andrea Roberti, also sharing writing and directing credits with her in their debut in a feature Fresh Air (2006), Ivo Briedis, and Gábor Németh.

The main cast for Eden (2020) is formed by Lana Baric, Daan Stuyven, Lóránt Bocskor-Salló, Maja Roberti, Zalán Makranczi, László Kistamás, Róbert Kardos, and László Katona.

After being part of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Göteborg Film Festival, New Horizons International Film Festival, Thessaloniki International Film Festival, Ghent International Film Festival, and Minsk International Film Festival, among others, the movie is scheduled for a release in Hungary on May 27, 2021. We will have to wait for more international release dates.
