"Human Resources": A young man must face terrifying forces while working in a hardware store

When reading the headline description of the movie Human Resources (2021) one could think this is another independent horror comedy where the silly dominates the running time. But the filmmakers took the plot into a serious tone.

In the movie, after starting a job at an eerie hardware store, Sam Coleman, an anxious young man, uncovers a shocking mystery involving a missing employee. With the help of Sarah, a cynical coworker, Sam plunges into the dark corners of the store and is forced to confront the terrifying forces that lurk just behind the walls.

This is the debut feature film of the writer, editor, producer, and director Braden Swope, a young filmmaker who has already achieved a good collection of awards with his student films and short films. His frequent collaborators Evan Swope and Chris Kelly also contributed to the screenplay.

The main cast in Human Resources (2021) is formed by Hugh McCrae Jr., Sarah José, Anthony Candell, Tim Misuradze, Michael Kammerer, Angel Hilton, Calvin Devereaux, Thomas Connelly, and Alison Stolpa.

Although most of the cast and crew of the film, including the director, were under 20 years old by the time of production, the movie had a successful festival run achieving a bunch of awards and nominations in several festivals like the American Filmatic Arts Awards, Another Hole in the Head Genre Film Festival, Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema, Los Angeles Crime and Horror Film Festival, Nevermore Film Festival, Oceanside International Film Festival, Poppy Jasper Film Festival, Simply Indie Film Fest, and Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival.

Now, it is available on several digital platforms including Amazon Prime Video and VUDU.
