Horror thriller "Father of Flies" proves that every family has its demons

Most of the time I think there is nothing more terrorizing than human beings, the true monsters capable of the most atrocious acts against themselves and the environment. And when you think of a family, a congregation of different human beings forced to stay together, the door for all kinds of fears and horror is open.

Horror thriller Father of Flies (2021) is a haunting tale of family life. A vulnerable young boy finds his mother pushed out of the family home by a strange woman, his father’s new girlfriend, and he must confront the terrifying supernatural forces that seem to move in with her. Have those forces always been there, or have they hitched a ride with the new resident?

This is the new movie of Ben Charles Edwards, a filmmaker with experience in producing and directing a long collection of short films who debuted behind a feature film with Set the Thames on Fire (2015). He has also been the writer of the screenplay together with Nadia Doherty.

The main cast for Father of Flies (2021) is formed by Davi Santos, Camilla Rutherford, Nicholas Tucci, Sandra Andreis, Page Ruth, Colleen Heidemann, and Malik Ibheis.

The movie has been the winner of the BUEIFF Award at the Buenos Aires International Film Festival, winner of the Best Score and Best Sound Mix awards at the Paris Independent Film Festival, nominated for Best Director, Best Performance, and Best Picture at the North Hollywood Cinefest, and nominated for the Screamdance award at the Raindance Film Festival. It was also part of the Screamfest Horror Film Festival 2021.

Described as “darkly Complex and utterly absorbing” by The Hollywood News, the movie is scheduled for a digital release on April 12, 2022, by 101 Films.
