As the day of Halloween is approaching, distribution companies are releasing more and more horror films. It is the spooky date of the year, and both the audience and the filmmakers know that. But from the uncountable options of Video on Demand content out there, some available ones come out without a cost for the viewer. When the Earth Gives Up the Dead (2022) is one of them.
Inspired by the work of H.P. Lovecraft, this low-budget film is set in the Yorkshire village of Dunwich, where a huge and deformed creature has been born. An evil priest and a mad professor attempt to use the creature to contact the old gods, Dagon and Cthulhu. As a result, all hell (literally) breaks loose.
This is the new work of producer, writer, and director Matthew Cooper. The movie is the third part of a trilogy of horror films made by the same team and includes Markham (2020) and At the Mountains of Madness (2021). The trilogy was made back to front, and this third film ties all the plots together from the previous two. Rachel Connor was the story editor.
The main cast of When the Earth Gives Up the Dead (2022) is formed by Tony Coughlan, Lewis Holt, Nik Hewitt, Paul Weeks, Gary Geeson, Matt Croft, Ben Grimm, Daniel Martin, and Ashe Russell.
October 31, 2022, marks the day of the official release on DVD and Blu-Ray of the film, as well as its free digital release that you can watch here. More info is to be found at www.matcoop.co.uk.
