Here it is, the first trailer for Panos Cosmatos' "Mandy" starring Nicolas Cage

Another of the most awaited films of the year, Mandy (2018), has released its first trailer out. The movie, directed and co-written by Panos Cosmatos, because of the plot and the presence of main star Nicolas Cage, which has been said to have done one of his best performances in decades, is called to be one of the dirtiest and bloodies horror action thrillers of the season. And regarding to what it’s shown on the first official trailer, perhaps that’s not very far from reality!

This trailer is a collection of dark images and sounds, lots of blood, evilness and violence, presenting the plot that we all already knew if we’ve been following this movie since its inception: Nicolas Cage plays a broken and haunted man hunting an unhinged religious sect who slaughtered the love of his life. Demonical sects in 1983 with big chainsaws and the daily routine of cutting human bodies in pieces.

Panos Cosmatos seems to have digested very well the spirit of the movies directed by his father, the late George P. Cosmatos, who signed significant action titles in the 1980s and 1990s like Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Cobra (1986) or Tombstone (1993). That love for the classic and dirty action films gets mixed up with the dark atmospheres so predominant in this new generation of filmmakers, as he already showed on his previous and debut title Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010). If his first film had the essence of early David Cronenberg, with Mandy (2018) it seems that Panos Cosmatos goes down to the mud drinking from heavy violent Mad Max (1979), The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) or more recent High Tension (2003) style flicks.

Together with Nicolas Cage, Mandy (2018) is starred by Andrea Riseborough, Linus Roache, Bill Duke, Richard Brake, Clément Baronnet, Ned Dennehy, Olwen Fouéré, Alexis Julemont and Line Pillet. The movie premiered this January at Sundance Film Festival, where it was glorified by many of the attendants, and Cannes Film Festival. This July it will also be part of the line-up of festivals like South Korean BiFan – Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and New Zealand International Film Festival. it is scheduled to open in theaters in the USA the 14th of September. And until that moment arrives, find here its astonishing first trailer:
