Steve Guttenberg had his glory days in the 1980s, where he starred in a series of hit comedies Cocoon (1985), Three Men and a Baby (1987), and the film sagas Short Circuit (1986) and, overall, Police Academy (1984). But as the 1990s broke in, he fell into oblivion only to outstand some supporting roles in TV series Veronica Mars (2004–2019) or science-fiction horror B-movies Lavalantula (2015), Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens (2016), or Alternate Universe: A Rescue Mission (2016).
Now, he is the main protagonist of an independent horror-thriller entitled Heckle (2020), where he plays a stand-up comedian who encounters a seemingly insane heckler, who becomes his stalker. Then, his friends start ending up dead. And this is a heckle on a whole new level.
Opposite Steve Guttenberg, the late Clark Gable III plays the heckler. Guy Combes, Madison Clare, Louis Selwyn, Helena Antonio, Stephanie Leigh Rose, Natasha Starkey, Dani Dyer, James Littlewood, and Toyah Willcox complete the main cast.
Heckle (2020) has been directed by Martyn Pick, an awards-winner director and artist recognized for a distinctive fusion of live-action and animation. Airell Anthony Hayles, known for They’re Outside (2020) and Spider Inside Her (2021), is the writer and producer of the film.
The movie was part of FrightFest on October 24, 2020, and now it is scheduled for a digital release by Uncork’d Entertainment on March 8, 2022.
