Joe Carnahan is one of the most prolific action film directors of the last decades. With a solid career including hit titles like Narc (2002), Smokin’ Aces (2006), The A-Team (2010), The Grey (2011), and Stretch (2014), every new movie he is involved in is marked to be a box office hit full of adrenalinic scenes and crazy action sequences.
His latest work is Copshop (2021). In it, on the run from a lethal assassin, a wily con artist devises a scheme to hide out inside a small-town police station. But when the hitman turns up at the precinct, an unsuspecting rookie cop finds herself caught in the crosshairs.
The movie is based on a story by Mark Williams, the producer, and writer of one of the latest Liam Neeson-starring action films Honest Thief (2020), and writer, producer, and creator of the popular Netflix thriller TV series Ozark (2017– ). The director Joe Carnahan has been the writer of the screenplay together with Kurt McLeod.
Two big action figures Gerard Butler (300 (2006), Machine Gun Preacher (2011), Olympus Has Fallen (2013), London Has Fallen (2016)) and Frank Grillo (End of Watch (2012), The Purge: Anarchy (2014), The Purge: Election Year (2016), Beyond Skyline (2017)) lead the main cast that also includes Toby Huss, Alexis Louder, Tait Fletcher, Ryan O’Nan, and Kaiwi Lyman.
Copshop (2021) is Rated R for strong/bloody violence and pervasive language. The movie came out in the UK and Ireland the first weekend of September and this past weekend came out internationally, grossing over $5million. Here you can watch the trailer for Copshop (2021).
