Is it possible to find a French action-thriller where Luc Besson has not been involved in? Well, there are not many but at least every now and then one comes up. Because the director of cult movies like The Fifth Element (1997) and Léon: The Professional (1994) has produced close to a hundred titles in the last three decades, most of them with him also taking part in the development of the screenplay or the story. So it is more than fair to connect the concept of a French action-thriller but the name Luc Besson.
That said, now let’s focus on one of the titles he HAS NOT been involved in. Let’s take a look at Restless (2022). The movie centers on a corrupt cop whose life spirals out of control after going to extremes to cover up an accident. Then, he starts receiving threats from a mysterious witness.
This is the debut feature film of Régis Blondeau, a former director of photography in a good collection of films including A Ticket to Space (2006), Madame (2017), and most of the movies by awards-winner comedy director Olivier Baroux. Julien Colombani is the writer and co-producer of the film.
Restless (2022) is starring Franck Gastambide, an actor known for his work in action films like Rabid Dogs (2015) and Taxi 5 (2018), the latest to date entry in the popular saga of French comedy thrillers created by Luc Besson, of course. Simon Abkarian, Michaël Abiteboul, Tracy Gotoas, Jemima West, Serge Hazanavicius, Victoire Zenner, Perez Michael, and Nabil Missoumi complete the main cast.
With the original French title Sans Répit, this is a remake of popular awards-winner South Korean film A Hard Day (2014). The movie is scheduled for an international release on the Netflix platform on February 25, 2022.
