After Disney bought 20th Century Fox they have been working on giving a new life to the Alien franchise, and this year that marks the 40th anniversary of the original movie Alien (1979) seems to finally be the moment when those new projects are going to see the light.

Last month, the official Instagram account of the movies franchise published a series of images and clips showing the Weyland-Yutani facilities and the researches they are doing on the creatures from another planet. A so-called “6-part dossier exposing the secret of Weyland-Yutani”, and with the headline “The Alien universe expands 2019”. Rumors say the executives they are working on a release this year of a sequel of the videogame Alien: Isolation (2014), set 15 years after the events of Alien (1979), were gamers play as Ripley‘s daughter Amanda Ripley and embark on a mission to find her missing mother and the rest of the Nostromo crew. Also, Disney is working on the official TV series based on the Alien franchise to be part of their streaming platform designed to compete with Netflix.

Last weekend the official Twitter account of the Alien Anthology made public a clip with the caption “Read. Play. Watch”, with footage from the original movie and the presence of Amanda Ripley. 2019 just only began but it seems that it is going to see the year of the Xenomorph.
