Because not everything is the epic adventures of the Avengers, the blockbusters factory that is the Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures tandem also have in their pocket some independent projects. Next year is expected to hit theaters the vampire superhero film Morbius (2022), starring Jared Leto, and a few years ago we got Tom Hardy in the skin of Venom (2018). This year, Hardy is back again as the symbiotic anti-hero in Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021).
The official plot of the movie is still unknown, but after seeing the first trailer we have learned in Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) we will witness the birth of the comic saga villain Carnage, the well-known archenemy of Venom.
From the first movie, Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock / Venom, Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady aka the future Carnage, Michelle Williams as the love interest Anne Weying, Reid Scott as Dr. Dan Lewis, and Peggy Lu as the comedic counterpoint Mrs. Chen are back to reprise their roles. Stephen Graham, Naomie Harris, Larry Olubamiwo, and Sean Delaney complete the main cast.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) is directed by Andy Serkis, who knows very well what is to be in a big production since he is an experienced actor specialized in portraying creatures having appeared in the sagas The Lord of the Rings as Gollum, The Planet of the Apes as Caesar, and the latest Star Wars trilogy as Snoke. This is not the first time he is behind the cameras in a big production since he was also the director of Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018). Kelly Marcel, writer of Saving Mr. Banks (2013), Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), and the first Venom (2018), returns as the author of the screenplay.
Filming for the movie started on November 15, 2019. The official release date has been pushed repeatedly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the final official date has been set to September 24, 2021, in the USA.
