First trailer out for Blumhouse horror-comedy "Freaky"

Christopher Landon is one of those directors who fit perfectly under the Blumhouse banner. After reaching some popularity in the genre circle with his movies Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (2014) and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (2015), he joined the Jason Blum company to develop one of the most celebrated titles in their catalog, Happy Death Day (2017) and its sequel Happy Death Day 2U (2019). Now he is back with another horror-comedy with a plot somehow following the magic formula of his two previous films with Freaky (2020), where after swapping bodies with a deranged serial killer a young girl in high school discovers she has less than 24 hours before the change becomes permanent.

Freaky (2020) is starred by Vince Vaughn, the huge unfunny funny guy in so many comedies in the last decades recycled into an action titan thanks to S. Craig Zahler‘s masterpieces Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017) and Dragged Across Concrete (2018). Opposite to him there is Kathryn Newton, a talented emerging actress winner of two Young Artist Awards and that has been seen in Paranormal Activity 4 (2012), Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017), and Lady Bird (2017). Together with them, Alan Ruck, Uriah Shelton, Katie Finneran, Dustin Lewis, Dana Drori, Charles Green, Deja Dee, Kelly Lamor Wilson, and Melissa Collazo also star.

Seventeen-year-old Millie Kessler (Kathryn Newton) is just trying to survive the bloodthirsty halls of Blissfield High and the cruelty of the popular crowd. But when she becomes the newest target of The Butcher (Vince Vaughn), her town’s infamous serial killer, her senior year becomes the least of her worries. When The Butcher’s mystical ancient dagger causes him and Millie to wake up in each other’s bodies, Millie learns that she has just 24 hours to get her body back before the switch becomes permanent and she’s trapped in the form of a middle-aged maniac forever. The only problem is she now looks like a towering psychopath who’s the target of a city-wide manhunt while The Butcher looks like her and has brought his appetite for carnage to Homecoming.

Freaky (2020) has been co-written by director Christopher Landon together with Michael Kennedy. Principal photography lasted for 35 days under the original title Freaky Friday the 13th. It began on October 21, 2019, and finished on December 12, 2019. It is scheduled to be released on Friday the 13th of November 2020. Here you can watch the first official trailer for Freaky (2020).
